BBWS: Eretan Indramayu Beach Line Backs 200 Meters From Previously

The Citarum River Basin Center (BBWS) revealed that the coastline of the Eretan Indramayu tourist area has experienced a setback of about 200 meters from the previous situation.

"This happens because of wind patterns, waves, and population activities. Coastal setbacks plus land subsidence that occurs around the coastal area, have increased the risk of tidal flooding in the Eretan Beach area," said Head of BBWS Citarum Marasi Deon Joubert, in Bandung, Saturday.

Therefore, said Marasi, currently the construction of the Eretan Kandanghar Beach safety will be carried out as an effort to overcome the risk of tidal flooding.

The Citarum BBWS, he continued, has socialized the construction of coastal safety to deal with the problem of tidal flooding at Eretan Beach, Kandanghaur District, Indramayu Regency on Wednesday (15/10).

The construction of coastal safety in Eretan is projected to be completed in three years, and is considered to be able to control tidal flooding due to tides.

"This year we will finish the 500 meter in Eretan Kulon, next year we will continue to close it to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, then we will program it for those in Kali Perawan so that pelvis can be built to control flooding, which has been happening in the Eretan Kulon area," he said.

The community around Eretan Kulon Beach, he said, warmly welcomed the construction of the beach safety, as revealed by the Head of Eretan Kulon Village, Sugi.

"I feel touched by the presence of this program, so this will provide a little peace for the people of Eretan Kulon who in fact are on the coastline of Java Island," said Sugi.

Similarly, the Head of Kandanhaur Sub-district, Rusyad Nurdin also revealed that the construction of this beach safety is very helpful for residents.

"This security is of course in the context of the residents of Kandanghur, especially Eretan Kulon, who was affected by the tidal flood. This is in order to secure all of us, settlements here, so that life here is safe and comfortable," he said.

At the socialization, there were also members of the DPR RI Commission V, Daniel Mutaqien Syafyuddin, who also supported and overseeed the construction of the Eretan Beach Security. He also invited the people of Kandanghaur to maintain the sustainability of development.

"Please keep it together. In 2026 we will push again, 2027 is also God willing, if everything goes smoothly this can be completed," he said.

Previously, the Citarum River Basin Center had also built Eretan Beach safety since 2021 in the form of L-Shape Construction in Eretan Kulon and Eretan Wetan as well as Tetrapod Construction in Eretan Wetan.

The construction of the Eretan Beach safety will be expanded according to existing proposals and is projected to be completed in the next three years.
