Saudi Arabia To Build 'King Salman's Movement' Near The Grand Mosque
JAKARTA - Saudi Arabia will have a new multipurpose destination that stretches an area of two million square meters next to the Grand Mosque, Makkah.
Announced by Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, "King Salman's Movement" will be developed by a company owned by the Public Investment Fund, Rua AlHaram AlMakki Co., according to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA).
The project aims to create a qualitative leap in the development of Mecca's infrastructure, particularly its central region, to establish a new global benchmark for urban development, the press release added.
"The King Salman Gate project is marked by a strategic location next to the Grand Mosque, and is a multipurpose destination that mainly aims to improve the service system provided, and provide residential, cultural, and service facilities around the Grand Mosque," the SPA said. , as reported by Arab News October 17.
The project will also increase significant capacity to accommodate around 900,000 worshipers in indoor prayer rooms and outdoor courtyards.
In addition, this project will be connected to public transportation to facilitate access to the Grand Mosque, and aim to preserve Makkah's historical and cultural heritage by developing and rehabilitating nearly 19,000 square meters of cultural and heritage areas.
