Russia Remains Committed To Diplomatic Settlement On Iran's Nuclear Program

JAKARTA - Russia insists it remains committed to the political and diplomatic settlement of Iran's nuclear program, the Russian Foreign Ministry said Friday, October 17.

Russia remains steadfast in its political and diplomatic settlement of Iran's nuclear program and calls on all relevant parties to focus on finding the necessary solutions to prevent an increased uncontrolled tension, which could have a serious impact on regional and international security," the statement said.

"We are ready to facilitate this in any way possible," the ministry's official statement added.

The ministry also confirmed that cooperation between Russia and Iran after the end of the UN Security Council 2231 resolution will be carried out based on Russia's national law and applicable international obligations.

In addition, Russia highlighted the aggressive efforts made by European countries participating in the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) to return the UN Security Council sanctions against Iran.

According to Moscow, the effort, which was previously lifted in line with the implementation of the 2231 Resolution, was declared a failure.
