The Attorney General's Office Affirms That Foreigners Leaders Of SOEs Entangled In The Law Can Still Be Investigated
The Attorney General's Office (AGO) said that foreign nationals (WNA) who are high-ranking officials in BUMN can still be investigated by the Prosecutor's Office if they are caught in legal problems, including corruption.
"We adhere to positive laws. As long as it is carried out in the jurisdiction of Indonesia, which applies to Indonesian law, it means that anyone can be imposed. As long as it is done and moreover it can result in state losses, it can," said Head of the Legal Information Center (Kapuspenkum) AGO Anang Supriatna as reported by ANTARA, Friday, October 17.
Anang explained that the AGO had handled foreigners who were caught in the law, namely the case of alleged corruption in the terminal procurement project for the 123 BT (east longitude) orbit slot satellite at the Ministry of Defense (Kemenhan) in 2016 which was handled by the Deputy Attorney General for Military Crimes (Jampidmil).
In this case, one of the suspects is Gabor Kuti as CEO of Navayo International AG. Gabor is a Hungarian citizen.
Anang ensured that the investigation of the legal case that ensnared foreigners would later be carried out professionally.
"It will be processed by applicable laws and regulations. However, however, our law enforcement is not immediately, (law enforcement) will be professional, careful, especially when it comes to state losses," he said.
Previously, President Prabowo Subianto in a dialogue with Forbes Media Group Main Leader Steve Forbes in Jakarta, Wednesday (15/10), revealed that BUMN can currently be led by foreigners.
"I have changed the regulations. Now the expatriate, non-Indonesian people have been able to lead our SOEs," said Prabowo.
Prabowo even said that he had spoken to the Danantara management to invite them to find talented foreigners to lead SOEs.
"I am talking to Danantara management to manage companies with international business standards. You can find the best people, the best talents," he said.
