Turkey Will Use Any Way To Prevent Genocide Recurrence In Gaza

JAKARTA - Turkey will use any possible means to prevent Israel from committing genocide again in the Gaza Strip, President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said, pledging to continue to support the Palestinian cause.

Speaking after a Cabinet meeting in Ankara, Wednesday President Erdogan stressed Turkey's firm stance on Israel's crimes against humanity.

"We are using all means to pressure Israel so that we never return to genocide," President Erdogan said, quoted by the Daily Sabah on October 16.

He further said Turkey welcomed the ceasefire agreement in Gaza, stressing it was achieved through the country's extensive diplomatic efforts through various channels.

President Erdogan said, although fragile, a security climate has begun to form in Gaza. "For the first time in two years, Gaza's children's faces are smiling," he said.

He stressed that after two years of relentless bombings, the Gazan people are now starting to rebuild their lives.

"Children who have struggled to survive under the bomb for two years are now smiling again. Our brothers and sisters in Gaza are back in their homes, holding fast to what is left, and trying to get started again. This is happiness that we can only imagine," President Erdogan explained.

Pointing to "Israel's poor record of keeping promises", President Erdogan said Gazans still had hope even though they suffered.

"We are well aware of Israel's record, but the resistance of Palestine and our brothers and sisters in Gaza still wants to remain hopeful. We are also determined to continue to suppress as much as possible so that the world does not return to those genocide times," President Erdogan explained.

Stressing the importance of the Sharm el-Sheikh summit in Egypt, President Erdogan said leaders of the four signatories, along with other countries, showed a clear determination to pursue peace.

"With the declaration of Sharm el-Sheikh, we have taken an important step towards lasting peace and stability in our region. Turkey will stand firm behind this commitment, and we will support the loyal implementation of the ceasefire," he said, expressing his belief that the US, Egypt and Qatar would also uphold their commitments.

Reaffirming Turkey's longstanding support for Palestinian resistance, President Erdogan said Ankara "never labeled the sons of Gaza who defended their homeland as terrorists," rejecting a Western narrative describing Palestinian groups as extremists.

He promised Turkey's struggle will continue until an independent Palestinian State is established based on the 1967 border.
