Apple Executive Leaves For Meta Amid Heating AI Talent Competition

Jakarta Competition for talent in the field of artificial intelligence (AI) between tech giants is getting hotter. According to a Bloomberg News report, Ke Yang, Apple executives who have just been appointed to lead the development of an AI-based search engine similar to ChatGPT, decided to leave to join Meta.

Ke Yang baru beberapa minggu lalu ditunjuk sebagai kepala tim bernama Answers, Knowledge and Information (AKI), yang menjadi pusat dalam proyek besar pembaruan asisten suara Siri yang direncanakan meluncurkan pada Maret mendatang. Namun, laporan menyebut ia telah memutuskan untuk pindah ke Meta, perusahaan yang dipimpin Mark Zuckerberg.

Neither Apple, Meta, nor Ke Yang have commented on the news. Based on his LinkedIn profile, Ke Yang has joined Apple since 2019.

Meta is known to be increasingly aggressive in recruiting Silicon Valley's best talent, competing closely with OpenAI, Google, and Anthropic in the race towards advanced AI development or super intelligence. Previously, Meta had also recruited several top AI executives from Apple, including Robby Walker and Ruoming Pang.

This step indicates that the intensity of a new 'cold war' in the world of technology is no longer a matter of gadgets, but who is able to lead the next AI revolution
