YouTube Resolves Global Disturbances That Had Disrupted Video Streaming Services

Alphabet's video sharing platform, YouTube, announced that it had resolved technical problems that had affected video streaming services in various countries on Wednesday, October 15 evening US time.

In a statement on platform X (formerly Twitter), YouTube said users can now play videos normally on YouTube, YouTube Music, and YouTube TV, although they do not explain in detail the cause of the disturbance.

According to data from internet service monitoring site Downdetector, the peak of the disruption occurred around 19:55 local time (ET), with more than 366 thousand users in the United States reporting problems in accessing YouTube services. Similar disruptions were also reported by thousands of users in the UK, Canada, and Australia.

Downdetector records reports based on user complaints, so the exact number of affected users can be different from the reported data. After a few hours, the YouTube service is gradually recovering and is now functioning normally around the world.

This disruption has been one of several major platform global incidents in recent months, highlighting how crucial digital infrastructure is in modern life that relies heavily on streaming and online content services.
