Cut The Number Of SOEs, Prabowo Subianto Opens Opportunities For Foreign Professionals To Lead SOEs

JAKARTA - President Prabowo Subianto took rationalization steps in BUMN by cutting the number of companies to 200 from the previous number of 1,000 companies.

This was conveyed by President Prabowo in a dialogue with the Chairman of Forbes Media, Steve Forbes, at the Forbes Global CEO Conference 2025 forum in St. Regis, Wednesday, October 15. President Prabowo emphasized that BUMN reform aims to increase efficiency and the results of state business which has been low so far.

The change was accompanied by a new regulation, namely the opening of opportunities for foreign professionals to lead state-owned companies.

On that occasion, President Prabowo also said the need for political leaders to understand the economy and business in order to be able to make policies that are rational and data-based.
