Hamas Willing To Release Gaza's Control If The Two-State Solutions Are Carried Out

JAKARTA - The Palestinian Hamas Movement attributes its ceasefire to the application of a two-state solution to solve problems in Palestine.

This news was reported by the pro-government newspaper Turkey Hurriyet citing a source familiar with the matter.

US President Donald Trump previously said if Hamas did not fulfill his promise to lay off arms, the US would strip them of arms.

"The second round of negotiations has begun in France. Hamas said it was ready to hand over the control of the Gaza Strip to the technocratic government, but they also linked its handover to the need for a two-state solution," the news source said as quoted by the newspaper.

On Monday (13/10), President Trump, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah Sisi, Emir Qatar Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan signed a comprehensive document on the ceasefire of the Gaza conflict.

Still on the same day, the Palestinian Hamas movement has also freed 20 surviving hostages who have been held in the Gaza Strip since October 7, 2023, as part of an agreement with Israel.

The Palestinian Prisoners' Media Office confirmed that Israel had also released 1,718 Palestinian prisoners detained in Gaza and 250 other inmates who were serving long-term prison terms.

The Gaza peace plan, which consists of 20 points from Trump, was announced on September 29.

The plan calls for an immediate ceasefire, on the condition that the hostages are released within 72 hours.

The document also proposes that Hamas or other Palestinian armed factions have no role in the Gaza Strip government.

Control over the enclave must be transferred to a technocratic committee overseen by Trump's international body.
