Coordinating Minister Zulhas Confident That Indonesia's Economy Could Grow 6 Percent

JAKARTA - Coordinating Minister for Food Affairs Zulkifli Hasan is optimistic that Indonesia's economic growth will reach 6 percent by 2026. He said the target could be achieved if all President Prabowo Subianto's priority programs were carried out.

The program in question is downstreaming which will be carried out by the Anagata Nusantara Resources Investment Management Agency (Dantara), free nutritious food (MBG) and also Indonesia's target to implement biodiesel by 50 percent or what is often called B50.

"The growth (economic) is expected to be 6 percent next year, some say impossible, God willing, we will do it, and God willing, next year you will become a reality," he said at the 40th TEI event, Tangerang, Banten, Wednesday, October 15.

"Hopefully 6 percent if these policies can go well, then be optimistic," he continued.

The man who is familiarly called Zulhas said that the implementation of the 2025 TEI could open up export opportunities and have an impact on national economic growth.

Moreover, continued Zulhas, this year, TEI is targeted to print a transaction of 16.5 billion US dollars or around Rp273.5 trillion (assuming an exchange rate of Rp. 16,580 per US dollar).

This TEI event presented exporters and buyers, recorded 1,619 participants participating, and so far the Ministry of Trade has recorded 8,045 buyers registered from 130 countries.

"At the last time I was here, there were more than 14 billion US dollars in transactions here. So if this year the Minister of Trade targets transactions to occur at the Trade Expo this time at 16.5 billion US dollars," he said.

For your information, previously the Minister of Finance, Purbaya Yudhi Sadive, believed that Indonesia would be bright in 2026.

Purbaya also believes that the Indonesian economy can accelerate to the level of 6 percent. This optimism follows a liquidity flow of Rp200 trillion to five state-owned banks.
