The Chaos Of The Minister Of Environment And Forestry In Puncak Bogor: Demonstrations Of Residents, Reprimanded By Gerindra, Criticized By The Professor Of IPB

JAKARTA - Minister of Environment (LH) Hanif Faisol is in the spotlight regarding the closure of a number of tourist attractions in the Puncak area, Bogor. The Minister from the National Mandate Party (PAN) underwent a series of activities related to the incident.

On October 6, 2025, a group of Puncak residents confronted the group of Ministers of Environment who were present at an event in the area. Hanif was previously scheduled to have a dialogue with residents who were waiting for a direct explanation, but reportedly canceled the meeting for no apparent reason.

"Even though we have prepared ourselves to express complaints and expectations. But the Minister immediately left after the symbolic tree planting event. This is very disappointing," said Muhsin, Chairman of the South Bogor Community Alliance (AMBS), in a statement Wednesday, October 15.

The LH Minister's policy received strong responses from various parties, one of which was a Gerindra Party official as well as a member of the Indonesian Parliament in the Bogor District Electoral District, Mulyadi. He admitted that he was furious at the closing steps which he considered haphazard.

"I am very angry and angry with the Minister of the Environment Hanif Faisol Nurofiq. His actions in the Puncak area have disrupted the tourism and investment climate, and caused thousands of employees to be laid off due to their workplaces stopping operating," Mulyadi told reporters recently.

During the recess, Mulyadi also held a meeting with the residents of Puncak to absorb the aspirations of the people on October 9, 2025.

"I'm sad. They're hungry. Even though this is my electoral district. They are close to the President's residence in Hambalang. So I deliberately chose Puncak as my first recess location because this is urgent (emergency). News and videos of complaints from the people of Puncak have reached the President. This haphazard policy without a study from the Minister of Environment must be stopped," he said.

Professor of IPB University, Ricky Avenzora, also commented on Hanif Faisol's policy. He highlighted the government's steps in sealing and revocation of permits for a number of tourist sites in the Puncak area. According to him, the action was excessive and detrimental to many parties.

"The point is, the policy is not carried out with the right procedure. This is really not wise and very detrimental. This kind of practice must be stopped immediately and must not be repeated," said Ricky.

Ricky also emphasized that the rights to businesses for tourism managers should be returned and facilitated by the government. Ricky gave the example of Eiger Adventure Land as one of the business actors who consistently develops ecotourism and deserves full support.

Indonesia only has a few consistent middle-up tourism entrepreneurs. Eiger is one of them. The pattern of stopping and dismantling like this actually shows the arrogance of positions that are legally not justified and detrimental to the wider community and the state," he said.
