Governor Koster And GWK Agree To Make A Written Agreement On Road Access

Bali Governor Wayan Koster emphasized that the settlement of the road access closure problem in the Garuda Wisnu Kencana (GWK) area, in Ungasan Village, South Kuta District, Badung Regency, must place the interests of the community as a top priority.

This was conveyed by Governor Koster while chairing a meeting with the Regent of Badung I Wayan Adi Arnawa and the management of GWK at the Jayasabha building, Denpasar, Bali.

The meeting was held as a follow-up to the aspirations of the surrounding community who objected to the closure of road access that had been used by residents for daily mobility. Governor Koster and Regent Adi Arnawa directly summoned GWK management to find constructive solutions and agreed on definite legal steps.

"The most important thing is that mutual understanding and the interests of the community must be prioritized. It is very good if a formal, black and white agreement is made between the Government and GWK so that there is legal certainty. Later, understanding will be disseminated and given to the public, so that this problem is clear and resolved," said Governor Koster, in his written statement, Wednesday, October 15.

According to him, this step is not only solving access issues alone, but also ensuring that the relationship between tourism area managers and the surrounding community is harmoniously established and mutual respect.

Meanwhile, Badung Regent I Wayan Adi Arnawa said that his party together with the Governor of Bali had reached an understanding with the GWK management.

During the meeting, it was agreed that road access around the GWK area would still be used by the community as before.

"In principle, GWK has agreed with what we expect, which is to provide access for the community to continue to use the roads in the GWK area," said Regent Adi Arnawa.

The agreement, he continued, will be stated in the form of a written or black agreement on white in the form of a land loan agreement between GWK and the Badung Regency Government.

Thus, the land owned by GWK which has been used as a public road will still be used by the community as long as it is still needed.

"With this borrow-to-use agreement, it is clear that what the people around GWK want can be realized. We ensure that the aspirations of the community are fulfilled, and the problems that have developed so far can be resolved properly," said Adi Arnawa.

Regent Adi Arnawa also said that this settlement not only maintains public accessibility, but also strengthens social harmony and ensures that the conditions of the Ungasan area remain conducive.

In addition, with the formal agreement, it is hoped that all parties can carry out joint commitments in an orderly and legal manner, so that there will be no more similar polemics in the future.

"We hope that the atmosphere around the GWK area will be conducive again. This is not only a matter of roads, but also maintaining a sense of justice and togetherness of the Balinese people," said Regent Adi Arnawa.

Meanwhile, GWK President Commissioner Major General Purn. The Nyoman Suwisma expressed his appreciation for the quick and constructive steps taken by the Bali Provincial Government and the Badung Regency Government in mediating this issue.

"We really respect the interests of the local community. With today's agreement, please let the community take advantage of the facilities in accordance with the agreement that has been set. We fully support a good and fair solution," said Suwisma.

Previously, the manager of Garuda Wisnu Kencana (GWK) Cultural Park decided to dismantle the wall of the access barrier for Banjar Giri Dharma residents, Ungasan Village, Badung Regency.

This was decided after the management of GWK led by the President Commissioner of PT Garuda Adhimatra Indonesia (PT GAIN) Sang Nyoman Suwisma held a meeting with the Governor of Bali and the Regent of Badung.

"PT GAIN as the manager of GWK decided to shift several points of the guardrail on the south side of the entrance to the GWK area," he said on Thursday (2/10).
