UN WFP Trucks Attacked By Russian Drones During Convoys In Ukraine
JAKARTA - The World Health Organization team was attacked while escorting a United Nations (UN) convoy in Ukraine. Despite being attacked, the team managed to deliver medical supplies to the city of Bilozerka.
Two World Food Program (WFP) trucks were damaged in the incident, said Director General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus in an upload on X.
Tedros reiterated calls for attacks on humanitarian workers to be stopped.
The attack on the WFP truck took place on Tuesday, October 14 morning in Kherson.
Ukraine's Foreign Ministry said Russian troops deliberately attacked four UN OCHA trucks with drones and artillery. These white trucks marked by humanity are transporting aid to civilians.
One truck caught fire, another was badly damaged, and the other two managed to escape. No casualties were reported.
Another brutal violation of international law proves Russia's indifference to the lives of civilians and its international obligations, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha stressed.
"We urge UN Member States to strongly condemn other attacks on humanitarian personnel and put additional pressure on those who carried out the attack," he continued.
