OpenAI Will Allow Adult Conversations With Erotic Content On ChatGPT

JAKARTA OpenAI CEO, Sam Altman, said that his company will relax some security restrictions on ChatGPT. One of them is an erotic conversation that is allowed.

This easing is done to create a chatbot response that is more 'friendly or more human-like'. If this change has been put in place, adults whose verifiable accounts can build erotic conversations.

This change is scheduled to come in December. The easing of this limit is part of the company's principle of treating 'adult users like adults'.

Altman also explained that this change was made after OpenAI succeeded in reducing mental health problems related to the use of ChatGPT. Therefore, the rules on the platform are quite strict.

"We made ChatGPT tight enough to make sure we were careful with mental health issues," said Altman. Unfortunately, this strict rule makes ChatGPT less useful or fun for many users.

Currently, OpenAI believes that mental health problems in ChatGPT are more under control even though there is no evidence provided regarding this claim. In the near future, ChatGPT will support chats with sexual topics.

Licensing erotic topics is something OpenAI has never done. When compared to chatbots like Character.AI, this decision is a setback as the platform has pulled tens of millions of accounts that allow romantic or erotic role-playing.

The OpenAI spokesperson, according to TechCrunch, explained that the company will rely on an age prediction system to limit erotic features. If the system is wrong, users may have to upload photos of their identity cards for verification.
