Experts Remind The Risk Of Sharing Personal Data When Making Travel Plans Using AI
JAKARTA - In addition to the increasing number of people using artificial intelligence (AI) technology to make travel plans, cybersecurity experts emphasize the importance of remaining vigilant in sharing personal data.
Travel planning often also plays a role in booking hotels and even tickets, which inevitably requires the distribution of personal data by users.
The Kaspesky survey, which involved 3,000 respondents in 15 countries, including Indonesia, found nearly half (48%) of respondents saw security risks in AI use and sought not to share any sensitive data with them.
Meanwhile, 37% of respondents admitted that they were not too worried about AI security but remained cautious when using it, and only 14% of tourists believed that any data sharing with AI was completely safe.
Among the younger individuals (age 18-34), concerns about the security of AI services are even higher, with 52% of respondents wary of sharing their personal data with AI.
On the other hand, older generation (55+), is slightly less cautious in terms of AI use. Only 42% are aware of AI's potential risk, while 44% don't see many security threats, but choose to share selectively, showing a gradual approach to AI security.
"However, your personal conversations with AI can still be exposed to cyber threats. This does not mean you have to leave this digital device completely. On the other hand, stay alert, avoid sharing excessive personal information, and think carefully when choosing tasks that you can give to AI," said Vladislav Thunnov, Group Manager at Kaspersky AI Technology Research Center.
