Daihatsu Turns On The Bemo Midget X Again, Which Is Now Powered
JAKARTA - Daihatsu has returned to life one of its classic icons, Midget, in the form of a tiny electric vehicle called Midget X. The model premiered ahead of the Japan Mobility Show 2025, bringing a retro feel combined with future technology.
At first glance, the shape of Daihatsu Midget X reminds Bemo, a legendary three-wheeled vehicle that used to be popular in Indonesia in the 1960s to 1980s. Just like Bemo, Midget X has a small dimension with a round shape and driver position in front of the center.
But this time, the tiny vehicle comes with a futuristic design and fully uses electric power. Reporting from Carscoops, Wednesday, October 15, Daihatsu said that Midget X is designed as a light commercial vehicle (LCV). Where, it becomes a practical, environmentally friendly, and versatile vehicle for various business and urban lifestyle needs. Midget X was created to match various lifestyles of modern society.

In terms of design, Midget X retains the characteristics of its previous model, including LED round front lights, wide windshields, and semi-open small wheels. The back is equipped with an open tub-style cargo space and storage boxes like a large backpack, making it suitable for light trading needs or delivery of goods in urban areas.
The interior is also unique, the driver sits in the middle, flanked by two passenger seats on the left and right, a configuration that is rarely encountered in modern vehicles. In addition, there is an indicator of charging on the body side, confirming its status as a pure electric car.
Although still in the form of concepts, Daihatsu has not disclosed complete specifications such as battery capacity, travel distance, or performance. However, with small dimensions and high efficiency, Midget X is expected to be an economically and easily operated electric commercial vehicle on narrow roads, as was Bemo in his time.
