Indonesia's Central Role In Gaza Peace, Prabowo Is Considered A Solutive Figure In The Eyes Of The World

JAKARTA Indonesia took a central role in peace efforts in the Middle East. The presence of Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto at the Sharm el-Sheikh Summit in Egypt, Monday (13/10), confirmed that Indonesia's position was a determinant of history, not just spectators.

The summit peaked with the signing of a peace deal in Gaza, Palestine, which was witnessed directly by more than 20 country leaders, including President Prabowo.

Minister of Foreign Affairs (Menlu) Sugiono said Indonesia's involvement was a form of great international trust. According to him, the figure of President Prabowo Subianto himself is considered a figure who always has a solution in various global forums.

"The President himself is a figure who in our observations and attention in every international forum is a figure who is always considered to have roads and solutions and attitudes that respect all of them, and is also a figure who always wants to create peace," said Sugiono after accompanying President Prabowo arrived at Halim Perdanakusuma Air Base, Jakarta, Tuesday (14/10).

Indonesia Is Not Just A Spectator

In line with the Foreign Minister, Cabinet Secretary (Seskab) Teddy Indra Wijaya emphasized that President Prabowo's presence proved that Indonesia under his leadership was not a spectator.

"This is a special momentum. Indonesia under the leadership of President Prabowo is not an audience, but we are here to participate as one of the determinants, and one of the historical printers in peace in the Middle East, especially in Palestine," said Seskab Teddy, Tuesday (14/10) night.

President Prabowo's presence in Sharm el-Sheikh was to fulfill an invitation from Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi and United States President Donald Trump. Indonesia is even the only country from Southeast Asia to take part in this important summit.

The summit was attended by a number of important state leaders, such as US President Donald Trump, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, Emir of Qatari Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, French President, King Bahrain, to British Prime Minister, who according to Seskab Teddy showed that Indonesia was increasingly respected and reckoned with.

Ceasefire And Release Of Hostages

The peace document signed by the leaders immediately showed concrete steps with the start of the process of returning prisoners and hostages.

President Prabowo welcomed positive developments in the region, especially the start of the ceasefire and plans to gradually withdraw Israeli troops from Gaza.

"The important thing is that the ceasefire is already underway. Then soon the Israeli troops will be withdrawn. Of course according to the stages. The hostages have been released," said the President.

Seskab Teddy also added that President Prabowo's active support for Palestine has been shown since serving as Minister of Defense, through sending aid and health workers, inviting Palestinian children to study at the Defense University, and sending logistical assistance by dropping off via aircraft in Gaza.

Delivery of aid by means of direct downing of this aircraft is very difficult, as it requires strong diplomacy and permission from various countries, given Israel's military blockade. Indonesia itself is one of two Southeast Asian countries to carry out the operation to drop off aid to Gaza.
