West Java Police Make Sure Reni Victims Of TIP In Guangzhou Are Rescued

The West Java Regional Police confirmed that the condition of Reni Rahmawati from Sukabumi, who was a victim of the Trafficking in Persons (TPPO) in Guangzhou, China, had been rescued.

"Currently, Reni's sister is in a shelter at the Indonesian Consulate General in Guangzhou in a safe condition," said Head of Public Relations of the West Java Regional Police, Kombes Hendra Rochmawan, as reported by ANTARA, Tuesday, October 14.

Hendra revealed the success of saving Reni thanks to cooperation with a number of agencies ranging from Bareskrim Polri, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, to the Indonesian Consulate General in Guangzhou.

He said that currently his party is working on repatriating Reni Rahmawati to meet her family again in the country after being in Guangzhou since April 2025.

"Currently we are making efforts to help repatriate Reni and uncover cases allegedly committed by the TIP syndicate," he said.

The case began when the victim became acquainted with two men with the initials Y and JA through social media.

The two then offered jobs as household assistants in China with the lure of a salary of Rp. 15 million to Rp. 30 million.

The victim, who was interested in the offer, was then facilitated to make a passport in Bogor. However, after that, Reni was actually accommodated and held captive in a house owned by someone with the initials A.

Under these conditions, Y and JA then contacted a man with the initials L in Jakarta, who was asked to find a foreign national to marry Reni.

Reni was finally married in a serial manner to a man in China via video phone call. Not long after that, the victim was dispatched to China and never returned to Indonesia.

Families who felt lost then reported this case to the police in September 2025. The West Java Police Ditreskrimum together with the Sukabumi City Police Satreskrim also conducted an investigation and coordinated with related agencies.
