Work Together Angga Yunanda, Director Makes Dopamine Film Stories Since 5 Years Ago

JAKARTA - Director Teddy Soeriaatmadja is back with his latest film, Dopamin. This film is the latest collaboration with the production house Starvision Plus, which attracted the couple Angga Yunanda and Shenina Cinnamon.

Teddy said that this film had been planned for five years, but he repeatedly closed and opened the concept of the story until he brought this story to producer Chand Parwez.

"I made this for about 5 years and opened and closed because I knocked a lot. The idea was dark thriller in the initial draft and I offered it to several PHs (production houses) but when I sat with Pak Parwez, he saw something that was not a thriller but a human connection," said Teddy Soeriaatmadja at a press conference in Central Jakarta on Tuesday, October 14.

"Most of my work about human connection, want thriller, whatever resonates and in that script I saw it. So the discussion is open and starts chatting. When I write difficult things, it's probably that I have very pessimistic views about relationships," he said.

According to him, the film Dopamine will be connected to everyone not only about stories but about the struggle to survive and for love.

"Dopamine is actually a film about us, what happened to Malik Alya couple is a reflection of a lot of couples who are surviving in a world that is getting crazier, but how do they live it happily, make each other happy," added Chand Parwez.

Angga Yunanda and Shenina Cinnamon as husband and wife are also Teddy's choice. The creator said he had wanted to work with Angga Yunanda for a long time.

When I wrote early drafts, I already knew I wanted to cooperate with Angga. Ifer that some works are not and I thought I would be interested his performance in stretch and it works. It was on top of my list being in the film Dopamine or not," said Teddy.

"If Shenina is based on discussion because we are through the name Shenina but I doubt husband and wife want to work together. Turns out it paid very well," he said.

Dopamin tells that Malik (Angga Yunanda) and Alya (Shenina Cinnamon), a married couple who are newly married, suffered an unlucky fate because Malik was caught in layoffs and debts. One day, they find sustenance that takes the two to disaster that threatens the household.

The film Dopamine will hit Indonesian cinemas starting November 13, 2025.
