Circulation Of Sabu Kampung Bahari Regulated By Prisoners At Nusakambangan Prison

JAKARTA - A man with the initials M (45) was arrested by the Kemayoran Police while in the room of a hotel in the Kalibaru area, Senen District, Central Jakarta. When secured, M was caught breaking up methamphetamine-type narcotics into small packages to be resold in residential areas.

From the results of the search, the police confiscated 8.38 grams of crystal methamphetamine, a number of plastic clips, and electric scales. Based on the initial examination, M admitted that he got the methamphetamine from a large dealer in the Kampung Bahari area, North Jakarta.

However, the results of the police's investigation revealed a surprising fact: the circulation of methamphetamine in Kampung Bahari was apparently controlled by an inmate who is currently languishing in Nusakambangan Prison, Central Java.

"So the one in Nusakambangan is the controller. The perpetrator was ordered to take methamphetamine to Kampung Bahari with a transfer payment system," said Head of Criminal Investigation Unit of the Kemayoran Police, Iptu Budi Setiadi, Tuesday, October 14.

M admitted that he had twice taken methamphetamine from the dealer with the initials A in Kampung Bahari, which is known to be controlled by prisoners in Nusakambangan. The illicit goods were then sold by M to the people in his circle of friendship.

"The perpetrator is not a recidivist, but has made transactions twice. From the conversation on the perpetrator's cellphone, it is known that he usually sells to his friends," added Budi.

For his actions, M was charged with Article 112 paragraph (2) subsidiary to Article 114 paragraph (2) of Law Number 35 of 2009 concerning Narcotics. The police are still tracing the methamphetamine distribution network to the main controller in Nusakambangan Prison.
