Khofifah Instructs Regional Heads To Complete COVID-19 Teacher Vaccination In East Java

SURABAYA - Governor of East Java Khofifah Indar Parawansa instructed regional heads in his region to complete vaccinations for SMA / SMK and SLB teachers and educators, ahead of the implementation of face-to-face learning (PTM) on July 5.

The instruction was conveyed by Khofifah because the number of teachers who had been vaccinated had only reached 50.18 percent of the 108,694 total teachers and educators in East Java as of May 17. According to Khofifah, 55.18 percent of the teachers and educators had just received the first phase of the vaccine.

"As for the second stage, there are still 35.60 percent. This means that if there are 50 percent of teachers who have been vaccinated, it means that there are still around 50,000 teachers who have not received the vaccine," said Khofifah, in Surabaya, Tuesday, May 18.

Moreover, continued Khofifah, the remaining time is from today until July 5, 2021 before PTM is officially enforced. Therefore, Khofifah asked all regents / mayors in East Java to coordinate, to speed up vaccinations, especially for teachers and educators who are elderly, including those in Islamic boarding schools. Primarily, areas that are still very low in realization of the vaccination.

"Today it is not optimal, we have done various efforts to vaccinate the elderly, so there must be a format that is maximized. Because later there will be a connection, namely students who go to school are not dangerous for the elderly in their respective homes," he said.

According to Khofifah, having vaccinated teachers is a good starting point, and the results can be like vaccinations for Health Human Resources. Where the effectiveness of the vaccination carried out can reduce the number of covid-19 cases that occur in the Health HR.

"Vaccination is significant enough to be able to strengthen the immunity of officers in the first ring in helping health. Currently, in the context of face to face, teachers have to be optimized to be well prepared. So that later, we will try to get from the rest who have not been vaccinated, hopefully. we can finish in the not too long time, "said Khofifah.
