European Union Prepares Anti Drone Defense Roadmap

JAKARTA - The European Commission this week will present a roadmap outlining the further steps needed to bolster EU defenses, including defense against drones.

"This week, the President (Commission Ursula) von der Leyen and I will present a roadmap for European defense. This will define a target of capability and an important achievement for a number of main things such as an anti-drone system," said Head of European Union Foreign Policy Head Kaja Kallas at a press conference in Kyiv reported by ANTARA from Sputnik, Monday, October 13.

"The framework will be fully aligned with NATO's North Atlantic defense pact," he said.

Kallas arrived in Kyiv for talks with Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha on financial support for Ukraine and Ukraine's energy sector needs.

Media outlets in several European countries recently reported drone sightings near airports in Denmark, Norway, and Germany.

Further drone sightings were also reported in Poland, Estonia, and Romania.

In some cases, the report was followed by baseless accusations of Russia's involvement.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov has rejected Russia's accusations of being behind the drone's infiltration as baseless.

Russian Ambassador to Denmark Vladimir Barbin said the recent sighting of drones at Copenhagen Airport was a tactic to provoke direct military clashes between NATO allies and Russia.
