China Urges Support For Women, Promises 10 Million UN Fund Dollars
JAKARTA - Chinese President Xi Jinping has called for global support for the development of women who are considered to be the shared responsibility of the international community, as well as promising the distribution of 10 million US dollars (around Rp. 165.7 billion) for PBB funds.
Xi Jinping also submitted four proposals to support the struggle of global women, including "building a wider consensus, opening wider lanes, and taking more practical action for this purpose."
He delivered his speech at the Global Leaders' Meeting on Women in Beijing, reporting state media, in commemoration of the 30th anniversary of the World Conference on Women in Beijing held in 1995.
While presenting the construction of women as a whole "still facing complex challenges," Xi also proposed "together building a governance pattern to protect women's rights and interests, and writing a new chapter in promoting global women's cooperation."

As reported by ANTARA from Anadolu, Monday, October 13, China's President said over the next five years, "China will donate an additional 10 million US dollars (around Rp165.7 billion) to UN Women."
China will also allocate 100 million US dollars (around Rp1.65 trillion) from the Global Development Fund and South-South Cooperation for cooperation with international organizations in projects promoting the development of women and girls, he said.
"China will support 1,000 small and attractive livelihood projects for women and girls as priority beneficiaries, and invite 50,000 women to China for exchange and training programs," he added.
He announced China would also set up a center dedicated to promoting the development of global women's capacity, in order to increase cooperation with relevant countries and international organizations to foster more professional women who excel.
