AHY Campaigns To Clean Up Mangroves In Bali As A Green Infrastructure Initiative
DENPASAR - Coordinating Minister for Regional Infrastructure and Development Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono campaigns to clean and plant mangroves as part of a green infrastructure initiative.
"We have overseen something today, green infrastructure initiative, a cooperation program to be able to present infrastructure and also efforts to preserve our environment," he said in Denpasar, Bali, Monday, October 13.
Coordinating Minister for Infra at the Batu Lumbang Ekotourism explained that concern for mangroves can be done starting from cleaning up garbage in the area and continuing to grow.
Mangroves are important because they are able to capture carbon, prevent abrasion, and become tourism infrastructure through mangrove ecotourism.
"In fact, there was one type that was 10 times better to catch carbon, mangroves are one of the solutions that are said to be the nature-based solution for our environment, and at the same time there are also many products from mangroves," he said.
Minister AHY told how a fisherman's wife at the Batu Lumbang Ecotourism gave him a white scarf made from mangroves, as well as other MSME products such as drinks and food.
According to him, this shows the great economic potential of maintaining mangroves as green tourism infrastructure by all parties.
Not only domestic parties, in this green infrastructure initiative program, Indonesia is also working with Germany, namely the German Agency for Development Cooperation (GIZ).
