Karhutla Hanguskan 213,984 Hectares In 2025, Minister Of Transportation: Grateful, Down Compared To 2024
JAKARTA - Minister of Forestry (Menhut) Raja Juli Antoni said the area of forest and land fires (karhutla) in 2025 reached 213,984 hectares, a significant decrease compared to the peak of forest and land fires that occurred in 2015 covering an area of 2.6 million hectares.
"With pride and gratitude to Allah SWT, we can announce that the number of forest and land fires in 2025 will decrease compared to forest and land fires in 2024," said Minister of Transportation Raja Juli Antoni at a press conference for the 2025 Karhutla Control Exposure at the Ministry of Transportation Office, Jakarta on Monday.
He said President Prabowo Subianto's leadership played an important role in reducing forest and land fires. Soroti that the President even immediately chaired a limited meeting to handle forest and land fires and preparations for weather modification and water bombing.
He revealed that forest and land fires in 2025 so far reached 213,984 hectares, down from 376,805 hectares in 2024. That number also decreased significantly compared to the peak of the forest and land fires in 2015 which reached 2,611,411 hectares and in 2019 it reached 1,649,258 hectares.
In detail, forest and land fires this year, the fire area in peatlands reaches 24,212 hectares and mineral land is 189,772 hectares.

In addition, hotspots for the period January 1 to September 26, 2025 were recorded at 2,248 points, this number decreased 23.9. percent compared to 2024 as many as 2,954 points.
He said the success of preventing and controlling forest and land fires in 2025 was due to collaboration between the Ministry of Transportation, TNI, Polri, BMKG, BNPB, local governments to the community.
"Based on the Terra/Aqua (NASA) Satellite with a high level of confidence (80 percent), it shows that in 2025 2,248 points were recorded, while in the same period in 2024 there were 2,954 points, or down 706 points (23.90 percent)," said King Antoni.
He added that the strengthening of Manggala Agni, weather modification operations, and integrated patrols in vulnerable areas had contributed greatly to suppressing hotspots. King Antoni reiterated that he did not compromise with those who committed violations to cause forest and land fires.
"We also ensure that law enforcement runs decisively. There is no compromise against the perpetrators of arson, both individuals and corporations," he said.
