Bioethenol Use Can Reduce The Deficit Of Import Balance Up To IDR 200 Trillion
PT Pertamina (Persero) revealed that the use of domestic bioethenol can substitute imported gasoline so as to reduce the trade balance deficit for gasoline, which is currently equivalent to USD 12.4 billion.
Pertamina's Deputy President Director, Oki Muraza, said this amount was equivalent to Rp200 trillion. On the other hand, the use of bioethenol and reducing carbon emissions in the transportation sector, as well as driving the economy for farmers.
"Pertamina noted that the use of domestic Bioethenol can substitute imported gasoline so as to reduce the trade balance deficit for imports of gasoline, which is currently equivalent to 12.4 billion dollars," Oki said, quoted Monday, October 13.
Oki detailed that a number of innovations had been launched, including Pertamax Green, Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF), and Renewable Diesel (RD).
Pertamax Green 95, which has been launched nationally, comes with RON 95 and sulfur content below 50 ppm (Euro IV).
This bioethenol-based product is able to reduce dependence on imports of gasoline while encouraging the local economy based on renewable energy.
Second, Pertamina succeeded in producing Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) based on crude oil which was first used on the Pelita Air Jakarta 'Bali flight on August 20, 2025.
"This innovation leads Pertamina to become the only producer of SAF co-processing in ASEAN, with a supply ecosystem from collection of broken oil to utilization by national airlines," he continued.
Oki said that SAF products have also been certified by the International Sustainability and Carbon Certification (ISCC) and are able to reduce flight carbon emissions by 84 percent.
"This SAF technology is fully developed by domestic engineers, proving Indonesia's capacity as a regional green energy champion," said Oki.

In the Diesel sector, Pertamina has implemented B40.
"He claims, Indonesia's Biodiesel B40 program is the highest in the world, so that Indonesia can be fully independent in meeting domestic diesel needs," added Oki.
Another innovation is Renewable Diesel (RD), a vegetable fuel based on hydrogenated palm oil.
"The advantage is that the stability of oxidation is better, it is not easy to absorb water, and the efficiency of burning is more optimal than conventional biodiesel," said Oki.
