Support Local Music Shop, Neil Young Plans To Attract His Catalog From Amazon
JAKARTA - rock legend Neil Young announced plans to withdraw the entire music catalog from Amazon's platform. This decision comes along with calls to listeners to boycott the retail giant and switch shopping to small business actors.
This attitude was conveyed by Young in an upload on his official website, Neil Young Archives. He explicitly targeted Amazon founder Jeff Bezos, who is accused of supporting a government that is considered not pro-people.
"Obviously Amazon and Whole Foods. Forget Facebook," Young wrote, citing the official website, Monday, October 13.
"Buy (at the store) locally. Buy it directly. Bezos supports this government. He does not support you or me," he added.
Young himself has long been known as one of the most outspoken figures in the rock music scene. For years, he has been a vocal critic of President Donald Trump.
In his message this time, Young urged fans to take concrete action for the sake of change.

"The time has come, forget Amazon," he continued. "Support your community. Go to local stores. Don't go back to big corporations that have sold America. We all have to sacrifice something to save America from the 'Comporative Control Zaman' we're in. They need you to buy from them. Don't."
This is not the first time Young has conflicted with a giant digital platform. Previously, he had withdrawn his music from Spotify for accusing the platform of facilitating podcasts like Joe Rogan's that spread false information about the COVID-19 vaccine.
In August, Young also announced that he was leaving Facebook as a form of protest over the Meta company's AI chatbot., At the end of his message, Young reiterated his goal in a very loud tone.
"(Amazon) needs you to buy from them. Don't. They close our government, your income, your safety, the health safety of your family. Take America back together, stop buying from large corporations, support local businesses. Do the right thing. Show who you are," he concluded.
