North Sumatra Provincial Government Realizes 8,200 Subsidized Houses For Low-Income Communities

JAKARTA - The Provincial Government of North Sumatra (North Sumatra) continues to accelerate the realization of housing programs for low-income people (MBR). Until early October 2025, as many as 8,200 subsidized housing units had been built and distributed to people in various regions.

"Of the total quota of 20 thousand units, currently around 8,200 units have been realized. There are still around 11 thousand units that we must pursue," said North Sumatra Governor Bobby Nasution in Medan, as quoted by ANTARA.

Bobby said that the Minister of Housing and Settlement Areas (PKP) Maruarar Sirait had approved the addition of the Home Ownership Credit (KPR) quota for Housing Financing Liquidity Facilities (FLPP) for North Sumatra from the previous 15,000 to 20,000 units this year.

He also encouraged all stakeholders, from developer associations, banking, to local governments to work together to realize the target of the 3 Million House Program which is part of the Asta Cita Presiden RI Prabowo Subianto.

Data from the Ministry of PKP as of October 7, 2025, shows that 240,265 subsidized housing units of the FLPP KPR program have been built nationally, with 196,400 units of which have been distributed. West Java Province occupies the highest position with 22.88 percent, followed by Central Java (8.51 percent), South Sulawesi (8.13 percent), and North Sumatra is ranked eighth with a contribution of 3.97 percent.

All parties must fully collaborate. We want to make sure this program is a priority, and it really makes it easier for people to own a house," said Bobby.

He also instructed relevant regional apparatus organizations (OPD) within the North Sumatra Provincial Government to socialize the national subsidy housing program to all regencies/cities. This socialization is expected to accelerate the implementation of the program to the village level.

"I ask the relevant agencies later to invite the district/city government to socialize the President's program. So we can convey it directly to the regents and mayors so that this program runs to the village level," he said.

In addition to accelerating development, Bobby also emphasized the importance of providing incentives and ease of licensing so that developers can move faster in meeting subsidized housing targets.

Meanwhile, the Chairman of the DPD Association for Housing and Settlement Development throughout Indonesia (Apersi) North Sumatra, M. Yulius, appreciated the North Sumatra Provincial Government's steps to involve business actors directly in efforts to meet the national target.

"We are ready to fully support and this synergy continues for the next target, which is 25 thousand subsidized housing units by 2026," he said optimistically.
