Deputy Mayor Of Bukittinggi Leads Palestinian Defense Action On Car Free Day

JAKARTA - Support for the struggle of the Palestinian people continues to resonate in various parts of Indonesia. From big cities to regions, people show solidarity through peaceful actions, fundraising, to humanitarian-themed cultural activities.

One tangible form of support is present in Bukittinggi City, West Sumatra, where people and local governments take to the streets to voice their concern for Palestine.

Deputy Mayor of Bukittinggi, West Sumatra (West Sumatra), Ibnu Asis directly led the Palestinian defense action which was held with Qupro Indonesia and the Indonesian Humanitarian Alliance (AKSI) at the momentum of Car Free Day, Sunday, October 12, 2025.

Hundreds of participants participated in the activity by conducting a long march, unfurling the 20-meter-long Indonesia-Palestinian flag, delivering national speeches, and presenting the appearance of peace-themed music.

Ibnu Asis expressed his appreciation to all parties who have collaborated and participated in organizing these humanitarian activities. He emphasized that this activity was not merely a ceremonial event, but a room to foster empathy and solidarity with the struggle of the Palestinian people.

"Through this activity, we show Bukittinggi also cares and supports Palestinian independence. Hopefully this small step will be part of a big struggle for humanity," he said.

Furthermore, Ibnu Asis invites the public to always maintain the spirit of concern and unity in fighting for human values. He also added that in addition to participating directly in this action, the community can provide real support through donations for the Palestinian people.

In closing the series of activities, the peak of the Palestinian defense action will be held on Saturday, October 18, 2025, at the Cantin Field, with a charity concert with the Mayor of Band as a form of support and fundraising for humanity.
