35-year-old Man Was Beaten By By Residents Because He Was Shouted At By Thieves, Even Though He Wanted To Collect Debt
JAKARTA - A man was beaten by residents on the roof of a building located on Jalan Ancol Selatan, Sunter Agung, Tanjung Priok, North Jakarta.
Before being beaten, the man was chased by a number of people and then climbed onto the roof of the building to save himself.
Initially the man came to the Sunter area to look for his colleague who had debts. However, the person being sought was not found.
The victim actually met someone who once had personal problems with him. The two of them got into an argument that led to a beating.
"Cekcok with his friend, then his friend hit him. Finally, he was chased and shouted at by the thief," said Head of Criminal Investigation Unit of the Tanjung Priok Police, AKP Handam Samudro when confirmed, Sunday, October 12, 2025.

Not long after, the shout "thief" was heard from the residents. Because of panic, the victim tried to escape to the roof of the house, but was chased and beaten and injured.
"So it was not a thief. He ran up to the roof of a resident's house, then was chased by residents. There was a beating," he said.
The man was then secured and handed over to the Tanjung Priok Police. From the results of the police investigation, the man is known to have the initials AS (35).
In addition, the police also arrested D, a man who was previously involved in an argument with the US, resulting in screams of thieves and inviting many residents.
"We have also secured the man with the initials D who had an argument with the US. They agreed to settle it amicably," he said.
