IBL Releases New Regulations For The 2026 Calendar
JAKARTA The Indonesian Basketball League (IBL) officially released a new regulation for the 2026 competition season, which is planned to start early next year.
The highest basketball league competition in Indonesia is scheduled to make a tip-off on January 10, 2026. This prestigious competition will last for six months.
IBL President Director Junas Miradiarsyah said that the home and away systems as well as salary restrictions (salary caps) are two important components to maintain the balance of competitions next season.
"The paper cap is not only a barrier, but a mechanism to keep all teams having the same opportunity to develop," said Junas.
IBL next year sets a maximum salary limit of 30 thousand US dollars per month for foreign players. This policy is designed to maintain the club's financial projections and competitiveness of the competition.

This is the third season the format of the home and away is used by IBL. This regulation is maintained because it has the support of the majority of clubs.
With this format, each team has the opportunity to strengthen the base of fans in their respective regions while at the same time growing wider economic value and regional exposure.
In the semifinals and finals, IBL uses a new system, namely best of five. Teams with higher rankings in the regular season are entitled to more playing benefits at home.
This decision is considered a form of consistency in presenting a competitive and fair league, as well as maintaining a quality match experience for spectators throughout Indonesia.
In terms of player composition, IBL still prioritizes the balance between team strength and the development of local young talents. Each club can register 14 local players and a maximum of three foreign players, including heritage or naturalization players.
Of the three foreign players, two of them have a maximum height limit of 200 centimeters, while one player is free without high limits.
All foreign players can be played simultaneously on the field up to a maximum of three people at the same time.
Meanwhile, for clubs that have heritage or naturalization, they are only allowed to recruit two foreign players and can be played simultaneously with two other foreign players.
Clubs can also register at least two players under 23 years of age with an average playing time of at least five minutes per game calculated at the end of the season.
