PLN EPI Signs MoU With PT Biomass Energi Group And G7 Group Poland

JAKARTA - PT PLN Energi Primary Indonesia (PLN EPI) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with PT Biomass Energi Group (BEG) and G7 Group SPZ.O from Poland. The signing of the MoU aims to strengthen the supply chain and export of Indonesian biomass to global markets, particularly Asia and Europe.

The Director of Biomass at PLN EPI, Hokkop Situngkir, said that Indonesia has the potential for biomass of around 130 million tons per year, but only a small part is used.

"Through this collaboration, we want to turn that great potential into a real opportunity for both the decarbonization of the national electricity system and to meet global green energy demand," said Hokkop. Saturday, October 11.

According to him, PLN EPI is now not only playing a role as a domestic primary energy provider, but also starting to expand Beyond kWh's business, such as biomass trading and sustainable fuel exports.

"We will continue to ensure that domestic biomass supplies are safe to support the PLN cofiring program, as well as contribute to the low-carbon global economy," he explained.

Meanwhile, G7 Group Corporate Legal Advisor SPZ.O.O, Rogowski Wojciech Badminton, expressed his optimism about the future of this collaboration. He assessed that Indonesia has great potential to become a major player in the global biomass market.

"The world's biomass demand continues to increase, and Indonesia has all the factors to become a market leader. Even before the MoU was signed, we had prepared strategic steps to secure market share," said Rogowski.

He added that the Empty Fruit Bunch (EFB) outlet or the first empty fruit bunch pellet to be developed together will start operating in February 2026, with an initial production target of 120,000 tons per year, and will be followed by five additional factories with similar or larger capacities.

I am sure that the overall export capacity of biomass includes EFB pellets, Palm Kernel Shell (PKS) or Cangkang Inti Sawit, wood pellets, and other types of biomass is very likely to reach 3 million tons per year in the next few years. Collaboration with state-owned companies such as PLN EPI provides great trust and credibility in the international market," said Rogowski.
