Build Insufficient Infrastructure, Jakpro Targets Changes In People's Mindset
JAKARTA - BUMD PT Jakarta Propertindo (Jakpro) tries to no longer just work on physical infrastructure projects, but also organizes a social ecosystem that supports the discourse of Jakarta towards a global city.
President Director of Jakpro Iwan Takwin explained that his company's role now covers two sides, namely public services and the application of corporate principles. Both approaches, he said, were carried out to ensure that each project had a broad impact on the community.
"Jakpro needs one initiative to support this, how can Jakpro then capture the global issues that exist today," said Iwan in a discussion at DKI Jakarta City Hall, Friday, October 10.
According to Iwan, the development carried out by Jakpro not only adds new buildings, but also changes the way people think about the city.
"So from here you can see that Jakpro then not only built one infrastructure or building, but Jakpro built the people or the citizens of Jakarta in terms of the mindset aspect," he explained.
Through this social approach, Iwan revealed that Jakpro wants to form a new habit for residents who are more adaptive to the development of modern cities.
Iwan assessed that the integration between physical development and social change is the key so that Jakarta is able to compete globally. Therefore, every Jakpro project is designed by considering the social character of communities around the region.
"In Taman Ismail Marzuki, we have to treat communication and interaction patterns, so we can really get into them artists, so we build a common mindset that this TIM area is a synergy area between us business entities and art-culture actors," he explained.
The same approach is applied at the Jakarta International Stadium (JIS), where Jakpro sees Persija's supporting community as an important part of the stadium ecosystem. This, said Iwan, makes public facilities not only live on paper, but actually become a social space for residents.
He also gave an example of the Jakarta International Velodrome (JIV), which is now being developed into a multipurpose activity venue.
"Finally, the strategy carried out by fellow managers there is how to carry out activities that function from Velodrome to multi-purpose events," he explained.
Meanwhile, Member of Commission D of the DKI Jakarta DPRD Deserves Nainggolan to express support for accelerating the transformation of Jakarta to global cities. The DPRD, he continued, will prepare a legal umbrella for the Provincial Government so that it can carry out the leaps of development needed.
"The DPRD must be ready to provide support in the form of legal bases needed so that the DKI Jakarta government can make leaps to global cities," said Pantas.
According to him, regulations are the main foundation for accelerating infrastructure development, including through the Raperda of the Utilities Network which has just been completed by the DPRD. He assessed that Jakpro has a strategic position in the process.
"The development of global cities does not rely on the government and BUMDs enough, but it is necessary to have private involvement in strategic projects," he added.
