Rage Against The Machine Failed To Enter The Last List Of Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame
JAKARTA - The 2021 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame has just been held. This award was given to a number of musicians who became the figures for the development of the rock genre.
This year, the event was marked by a number of controversies, one of which was that the names Iron Maiden and Rage Against The Machine (RATM) failed to enter the final list of the Hall of Fame. Whereas previously, the two names appeared on the award recipient.
Apart from them, there are Foo Fighters, Jay-Z, Tina Turner, The Go-Go's, Billy Preston, LL Cool J, and many more. Still, the disappearance of Iron Maiden and RATM from the list caused disappointment.
To Blabbermouth today, 18 May, CEO Greg Harris speaks out about the disappointment of fans and society.
“There's no doubt that Iron Maiden is an influential band, and that's why they were nominated this year along with 15 other musicians, and when the votes were gathered, six (out of 15) took the lead. So we don't ask, are they an important band, are they influential. "
According to Harris, 80 percent of the rock genre is on the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame list. Everyone has a favorite artist who influences them.
"I think people like being close to them, and they need to broaden their mindset about rock and roll." For him, rock and roll is not just men with long hair and guitars.
“It's about differences… We take the interpretation that these are all kinds of rock and roll. And I think, below, a lot of people are questioning hip-hop (musicians) because they are not fans. "
Paul Stanley at KISS said it was crazy to fail Iron Maiden because it didn't get a lot of votes. "Regardless of who chooses, the committee must appoint them (Iron Maiden). They have helped spawn a whole genre of music. What else needs to be done? "
A similar statement was also made by Gene Simmons regarding the failure of RATM to be included in the list. "(The RR Hall of Fame) is run by a bunch of Americans who don't know rock and roll if it hits their face."
