BYD Atto 3 Gets Refreshment Focused On Powertrain

JAKARTA BYD is preparing the latest version of Atto 3 for the Chinese market, and this time the increase is quite significant. The 2026 model gets an additional power of up to 107 hp, making it much more powerful than the previous version. All thanks to the use of the 308 phone electric motorcycle, the same as the BYD Seal EV sedan.

Quoting from the CarNewsChina page, Friday, October 10, the use of the new motor indicates Atto 3 will switch to a high voltage 800V system, which will allow for faster DC charging and better energy efficiency. This step also confirms BYD's ambition to maintain Atto 3 competitiveness in the midst of an increasingly stringent electric SUV market.

Known as Yuan Plus in the domestic market, BYD Atto 3 first launched in China on February 19, 2022. Since then, this electric car has been marketed in more than 110 countries, including Indonesia, and recorded global sales breaking through 1 million units. Even so, over time its performance began to feel left behind compared to rivals who offered superior energy and charging capabilities.

In March 2025, BYD had updated Atto 3, but the focus of refreshment at that time was more on improving the safety features and driver assistance system (ADAS). Now, BYD is preparing a major update in the powertrain sector, which is predicted to be able to restore the position of Atto 3 as one of the most attractive electric SUVs in its class.

In terms of appearance, the latest version of the Atto 3 exterior design still follows the facelift 2025 design language. The dimensions remain the same, namely 4,455 mm long, 1,875 mm wide, and 1,615 mm high, with a wheelbase of 2,720 mm. However, the weight has now increased to 1,880 kg, up from the previous 1,625 1,690 kg. This increase indicates that the use of batteries has a greater capacity, although official details have not been disclosed.

Interestingly, the TZ200XYC electric motor used also became a mainstay on the Denza N7 and BYD Seal EV, both carrying the 800V system. If there are no problems, the latest 3 versions of Atto will go on sale in China before the end of this year, as BYD's effort to strengthen its position in the increasingly competitive electric SUV segment.
