Just Won The Award, This Is The Specification Of The Hyundai XCIENT Fuel Cell Class 8 Hydrogen Truck
JAKARTA Hyundai Motor Company and its partner, PlusAI, are making history in the world of future transportation. The collaboration between the two, namely the heavy-duty hydrogen truck XCIENT Fuel Cell Class 8, has just been named one of the most Inventions of 2025 by the prestigious TIME magazine.
"This confession from TIME is proof of the strength of innovation and collaboration," said Senior Vice President and Head of Global Commercial Vehicle & LCV Business Division Hyundai Motor Company Chul Youn Park, quoted from the Hyundai page, Friday, October 10.
XCIENT Fuel Cell Class 8 is the world's first mass-produced heavy hydrogen-powered truck with PlusAI's SuperDriveTM Level 4 virtual driver system. The combination presents the latest solution for long-distance transport, which is not only free of exhaust emissions but also significantly increases logistics efficiency.

Specifications for Gahar Hyundai XCIENT Fuel Cell
Hydrogen-powered trucks have long been called the future of freight transport, and the Hyundai XCIENT Fuel Cell is now leading the revolution as the world's first heavy-duty mass-production truck with hydrogen power. Not just zero-emissions vehicles, this truck offers a combination of diesel-like-powered performance with extraordinary energy efficiency, making it a vital solution for sustainable long-distance transportation.
The heart of XCIENT Fuel Cell is a sophisticated 220 kW hydrogen fuel cell system (consisting of two stacks of 110 kW). The system is paired with a 350 kW electric motor (about 469 hp) and a large torque of 2,237 Nm, guaranteeing responsive acceleration and stable performance even when carrying the full load. This electric power is also powered by a 72 kWh capacity battery (consisting of 3 packages of 24 kWh) which plays a role in storing and supplying additional electricity, as well as enabling regenerative braking.
One of the main advantages of a hydrogen truck is the ease and speed of refueling. XCIENT Fuel Cell is equipped with a hydrogen tank with a capacity of about 31.08 kg with a charging pressure of 350 Bars. This capacity is claimed to be capable of providing a distance of more than 400 km (for a riged truck model), a very competitive number for regional logistics routes. The charging time is also very short, ranging from 8 to 20 minutes, much faster than pure electric truck battery charging.
XCIENT Fuel Cell comes in various chassis configurations to meet diverse logistical needs. For Cargo or Rigid Truck models, for example, available in 4x2 and 6x2 configurations. The 4x2 configuration has a Maximum Vehicle Heavyness (GVW) of up to 19,500 kg and a Maximum Joint Gross Weight (GCW) of up to 38,000 kg. Meanwhile, the 6x2 model is stronger with GVW up to 27,000 kg and GCW reaches 42,000 kg, indicating its ability to transport heavy loads efficiently.
Hyundai also pays attention to the safety and comfort aspects of the driver. The XCIENT Fuel Cell chassis is equipped with functional features such as Front and Back Air Suspension to improve driving comfort and reduce cargo damage. Especially in the 6x2 model, there is a Back Sandar Steering feature (Rear-Axle Steering) which is very useful for improving maneuverability in a narrow space. The Double Weight Display System (Axle Weight Display) is also embedded to monitor loads and prevent overload.
