Barcelona Report Losses After Taxes For Second Year In A Row

JAKARTA - Barcelona reported on Tuesday, October 7, 2025, a loss after tax for the second year in a row by recording a deficit of 17 million euros (around Rp326.8 billion) for the 2024/2025 season.

Launching ESPN, this shortage has made the deficit for the last two seasons reach 108 million (around Rp. 2 trillion), after the club recorded a loss after tax of 91 million (approximately Rp. 1.7 trillion) in the 2023-2024 period.

However, after revenue increased to 994 million euros (Rp19.1 trillion), up 100 million euros (around Rp1.9 trillion) from the previous year, Barcelona said the results continued to consolidate the club's economic recovery after years of financial difficulties.

The main factor in the increase in turnover is attributed to a new agreement with Nike, increased sales of merchandise, increased yields on the ground, and increased the number of spectators at the Olimpic Lluis Companys Stadium.

The Blaugrana estimates that the trend will continue next season, with revenue predicted to reach 1 billion euros (around Rp. 19.2 trillion) thanks to Spotify's upcoming return to Camp Nou - which is claimed to be worth an additional 50 million euros (approximately Rp.961.3 billion) for the club this season - and losses after taxes are expected to turn into profits.

Financial performance has been up and down since Joan Laporta was elected president in 2020.

At the end of its first season, 2020/2021, Barcelona posted a loss of 481 million euros (approximately Rp9.2 trillion), largely due to the Covid-19 pandemic, also due to the council's decision to abolish or devaluate certain assets.

Barcelona then posted a profit of 98 million euros (around Rp1.8 trillion) and 304 million euros (around Rp5.8 trillion) in the following two seasons.

Even so, these profits mainly come from the sale of part of future revenue from domestic television broadcasting rights.
