Airlangga Regarding The Sustainability Of The 2026 Electric Motor Subsidy: Next Year Not Proposed
JAKARTA - The continuation of the electricity motorcycle subsidy program this year has not yet been decided by the government.
This is because policy makers, in this case the Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs and the Ministry of Industry (Kemenperin) have not yet announced how many incentives will be given.
The government even though it is targeting the program to launch in August 2025.
Regarding this, Coordinating Minister for the Economy Airlangga Hartarto chose to remain silent and repeat the questions raised by the media crew.
"The subsidy of electric motors," Airlangga answered briefly when met after the 2025 Investor Daily Summit entitled "New Economic Order" at the Jakarta Convention Center, Thursday, October 9.
Meanwhile, for next year, Airlangga will also ensure that the electricity motor subsidy program is not proposed to be included in government programs.
"Next year is not proposed," he said.
Even so, Airlangga did not provide further information on the reasons for the absence of a proposal for an electric motorcycle incentive for 2026.
Previously, the Director General of Metal, Machinery, Transportation Equipment and Electronics (ILMATE) of the Ministry of Industry, Setia Diarta, said that his party was still discussing and proposing the program.
"Still in talks, it is being proposed," Tata said when met at the Coordinating Ministry for GPK office, Jakarta, Monday, October 6.
When asked further regarding the proposed electric motorcycle subsidy to be delegated next year, Tata only answered briefly.
According to him, this might be done.
"Maybe," said Tata briefly without providing further information.
To note, the Ministry of Industry provides subsidies for each purchase of an electric motorbike of IDR 7 million per unit for 1 ID card.

The policy is contained in the Regulation of the Minister of Industry (Permenperin) Number 21 of 2023 concerning Amendments to the Minister of Industry Regulation No. 6 of 2023 concerning Guidelines for Providing Government Assistance for the Purchase of Two-wheeled Electric Motor Vehicles (KBL).
This aims to encourage more people to immediately switch from gasoline to electric motorcycles.
This includes supporting the reduction in consumption or use of fossil fuels.
