Coordinating Minister Airlangga Brings Good News, UMP 2026 Increases 6.5 Percent

Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto said the provincial minimum wage (UMP) would increase to 6.5 percent in 2026.

The increase in the UMP is said to have received the blessing of President Prabowo Subianto.

This was conveyed by Airlangga at the Investor Daily Summit 2025 entitled "New Economic Order" at the Jakarta Convention Center, Thursday, October 9.

"And for the purchasing power of workers, the provincial minimum wage increase in 2026 has been determined by the President (Prabowo Subianto) at 6.5 percent," said Airlangga.

Airlangga also explained that the number of people working reached 145.77 million until February 2025.

In detail, 96.48 million full-time workers, 37.62 million part-time workers and 11.67 million people half-employed.

"The addition of people working year on year in February is 3.59 million people.

According to Airlangga, the additional working people will reach 4.8 million people.

Bearing in mind, he said, based on a survey conducted by his party in August 2024, it reached 4.8 million.

"We usually do surveys here. Usually in year on year (yoy) in August last year it reached 4.8 (million). So, we see that it is possible that in August the figure is also around 4.8 million," he said.

Meski begitu, saat dikonfirmasi kembali soal kenaikan UMP sebesar 6,5 persen tahun depan, Airlangga bilang, hal tersebut masih dalam proses.

"UMP tahun depan, kan, sedang dalam proses," terangnya.

Even so, when it was confirmed again about the increase in the UMP by 6.5 percent next year, Airlangga said, it was still in process.

"Next year's UMP, right, is in process," he explained.
