5 People Arrested In Ecuadorian President's Attempted Murder Case
JAKARTA - Ecuador's Minister of Home Affairs John Reimberg said five people were detained in Ecuador on suspicion of attempted murder of President Daniel Noboa.
On Tuesday, the presidency said Noboa's convoy of vehicles was attacked on its way to Canar to announce a $4.5 million waste treatment project and the inauguration of a new waste system.
"After a coward attack on the presidential motorcade in Canar, the police immediately arrested the first five perpetrators," Reimberg said via platform X as reported by ANTARA from Sputnik, Wednesday, October 8.
According to the Universo newspaper, the five suspects are suspected of attempted murder, and their trial is scheduled to take place on October 8.
