Buron Interpol Juliet Liu Finally Undergoes Legal Process In Bulungan

TANJUNG CELLOR Unlicensed mining case that dragged the owner of PT Pipit Mutiara Jaya (PMJ) Juliet Kristianto Liu with her two colleagues, Moh. Yusuf and Joko Rusdiono, are now entering a new chapter.

The process of handing over the suspect and evidence (phase II) from investigators from the National Police Headquarters to the Public Prosecutor (JPU) was officially carried out on Wednesday, October 8 at the Bulungan District Attorney's Office.

A group of investigators from the National Police Headquarters arrived at the Tanjung Selor Pier, Salimbatu on Tuesday, October 7 to directly oversee the handover of the three suspects along with evidence related to the illegal mining case.

Head of the Legal Information Section (Kasi Penkum) of the North Kalimantan High Prosecutor's Office, Andi Sugandi, confirmed the handover of phase II. He explained that the case file had been declared complete (P-21) by the prosecutor's office, so that the handling of the case is now entirely in the hands of the Public Prosecutor of the Bulungan Kejari.

"It's true, this case has been transferred from investigators to the Public Prosecutor at the Bulungan Kejari," said Andi.

According to him, the transfer of files and suspects to the Bulungan Kejari was carried out because the location of the incident (locus delicti) was in the jurisdiction of North Kalimantan.

"Because the tempus delicti locus is in the jurisdiction of Kaltara, the delegation is carried out here (Bulungan) so that the trial at the Tanjung Selor District Court is easier, especially to present witnesses at the trial later," he added.

This case previously attracted the attention of the national public, because illegal mining activities carried out in the Bebatu Village area, Sesap Hilir District, Tana Tidung Regency (KTT), were said to have caused severe environmental damage.

Previously, PT Pipit Mutiara Jaya had been found guilty by the Panel of Judges at the Tanjung Selor District Court, and was fined Rp. 50 billion as a subject of crime and Rp. 35 billion in compensation for environmental damage. If the fine is not paid according to the provisions, the prosecutor has the right to confiscate the company's assets.

The name Juliet Kristianto Liu also became a fugitive for Interpol, before being finally arrested by a joint team consisting of NCB Interpol Indonesia (Divhubinter Polri), the Directorate of Certain Crimes (Dittipidter) of the Criminal Investigation Unit of the Police, and Immigration officers at Soekarno-Hatta Airport. She was secured at Soekarno-Hatta Airport on Friday (25/7/2025) and immediately taken to the Criminal Investigation Unit of the Police for further investigation.

With this delegation of phase II, the case of alleged illegal mining and environmental crimes committed by PT PMJ has officially entered the prosecution stage. The public is now waiting for the firm steps taken by the Bulungan District Attorney in resolving the case which has long been in the spotlight in North Kalimantan.
