West Java Provincial Government Gathers Thousands Of SPPGs, Ensures MBG Nutrition Standards

JAKARTA - The Provincial Government (Pemprov) of West Java (Jabar) will soon collect all Nutrition Fulfillment Service Units (SPPG) in West Java, which amount to thousands, to ensure that the standard nutrition service for the free nutritious food menu (MBG) is met.

Deputy Governor of West Java Erwan Setiawan said the thousands of SPPGs would be collected to undergo briefing and evaluation from the National Nutrition Agency (BGN), with materials from service standards, must have a nutritionist, and a Higiene Sanitation Feature Certificate (SLHS).

"After Central Java and East Java, it will be West Java's turn in the near future to gather all SPPGs along with their nutritionists and a quality control team for directions from the Head of BGN," Erwan said after attending the Prima Adminduk event in Bandung, Wednesday, which was confiscated by Antara.

According to Erwan, the team is currently preparing a meeting location that can accommodate up to 8,000 participants, considering that there are no indoor buildings in Bandung City with such a capacity.

"We are preparing a place. The target can be carried out as soon as possible. It is likely to use open space because the number of participants is very large," he said.

Erwan said that currently most SPPGs in West Java do not yet have SLHS and nutritionists which are the main requirements for the operation of nutrition services.

"Currently, only about 10 to 20 percent of SPPGs already have SLHS. In the future, all SPPGs must have this certification," he said.

Because it is mandatory, Erwan said, if after the briefing and certification process there are still SPPGs that do not meet the standards, then the units will be closed.

This step, continued Erwan, was taken as a form of strengthening a healthy and hygienic nutritional service system in the regions, as well as to prevent potential public health problems due to improper food consumption.

"If someone doesn't have a certificate, we will close it. This is for the safety of the community. Do not let there be more cases of poisoning due to nutrition services that do not meet the standards," he said.
