Rupiah Strengthened To IDR 15,385 Per US Dollar In The Ending Seconds Of Monday's Trading
JAKARTA - The rupiah started this week by successfully reversing the situation ahead of the close of trading Monday, April 27. The rupiah on the spot market closed up 0.10 percent or 15 points to a level of Rp 15,385 per US dollar (US).
Head of Research at Monex Investindo Futures, Ariston Tjendra, said that the loading at the last moment was possible for intervention from Bank Indonesia.
"But from the early morning, global sentiment looked positive towards risky assets such as the stock index and exchange rates of other Asian currencies against the US dollar," explained Ariston to VOI.
The strengthening of the rupiah is in line with currencies in the region which are also in the green zone. As of 15:00 WIB, only the Thai baht was in the red zone after having edged down 0.06 percent against the US dollar.
Meanwhile, the Korean won managed to become the currency with the largest strengthening in Asia. The won strengthened 0.78 percent against the US dollar.
Next there was the Singapore dollar which also rose 0.34 percent. Followed by the Japanese yen and Indian rupee, which rose 0.26 percent and 0.23 percent, respectively.
Then, the Philippine peso and Malaysian ringgit each strengthened 0.22 percent and 0.18 percent. The Taiwan dollar also managed to gain 0.15 percent.
