WHO Asks India To Clarify Export Of Cough Drug Sirup Kills Children
JAKARTA - The World Health Organization (WHO) has asked India to clarify the export of cough drug supplements that have caused death.
Reuters reported that Wednesday, October 8, WHO will review the need for a Global Medical Products Warning (Global Medical Products Alert) regarding Coldrif silent after receiving official confirmation from Indian authorities.
Deaths from cough mildes from India emerged in the South Asian country. Similar cases also occur in other countries.
At least 17 children under the age of five died in India in the past month after taking cough drugs containing dietilen glycol toxic compounds nearly 500 times the allowed limit.
Cases of children's deaths from consuming cough warranty also occurred in Cameroon, Gambia, and Uzbekistan.
