4 Died After The 6th Floor Building Was Renovated Into A Hotel In Madrid Spain
JAKARTA - The Spanish joint SAR team found four bodies from under the rubble of a six-story building in Madrid. The building collapsed when it was renovated into a hotel.
In the rescue operation, a team consisting of police and firefighters deployed drones and sniffer dogs.
"With deep sadness, we confirm that Madrid firefighters have found the bodies of people who went missing after the collapse," Mayor Jose Luis Almeida wrote on his X account, Wednesday, October 8.
This incident also left three other construction workers injured.
The bodies found were identified by three construction workers from Ecuador, Mali, and Guinea-Conakry. Meanwhile, another female architect of the renovation project.
The four bodies were found on Wednesday morning, approximately 15 hours after the collapse of the interior structure of the building.
A construction worker named Mikhail was pumping concrete into the lower floor of the building and was outside when the collapse occurred. He said he saw a large puff of dust and immediately ran away.
"I was the first to run, I don't care about anything else. I will save my life first and, if I can, save other people later," he told reporters, Tuesday, October 7, quoted from AFP.
