The Action Of The Pursuit Of 848 Yonif Soldiers On The Kebon Jeruk Toll Road Arrests Perpetrators Of Armed Robbers
JAKARTA - The sound of a silver horn on the Kebon Jeruk Toll Road KM 5, West Jakarta, Tuesday afternoon, October 7. A silver Daihatsu Luxio car appears to be driving a zig-zag, crashing into several vehicles, making road users panic. No one thought that, behind the chaos, two robbers were trying to escape after stealing a motorbike in the Setiabudi area, South Jakarta.
In that precarious situation, the Yonif 848/Satria Pandya Cakti (Spc) group who was shifting troops crossed the same route. Led by Lt. Col. Inf Dewa Gede Mahendra, the soldiers saw the perpetrator's car recklessly and immediately made a quick decision.
"We saw that the car hit several vehicles. After receiving reports from the public that it was a robber, we immediately pursued and coordinated," said Head of the Army Information Service (Kadispenad) Brigadier General Wahyu Yudhayana, in a written statement, Wednesday, October 8.
The pursuit took place briefly but tensely. At KM 5, the perpetrator's vehicle was finally stopped. Two men in the car panicked and almost got angry by the crowd who had surrounded the location. However, the soldiers immediately acted to protect them from becoming victims of playing judges themselves.
From the results of the inspection on the spot, it was found three units of stolen motorbikes one Honda Vario and two Honda Beat as well as a knife, three cell phones, and Daihatsu Luxio which were used to escape. The evidence and the perpetrators were then handed over to the Kembangan Police for further processing.
TNI Brigadier General Wahyu Yudhayana appreciated the quick action of the soldiers.
"Once the situation is under control, the two perpetrators are immediately handed over to the police. All the steps of the soldiers are in accordance with the procedures and the results of coordination with the Kembangan Police," he explained.
He emphasized that the spontaneous and measured action reflected the professionalism and empathy of Indonesian Army soldiers who not only served in the field of operation, but were also present in the community.
"They reflex because they know there is a threat to the safety of residents. This is proof that the Indonesian Army is always ready to protect the people whenever needed," added the Head of Dispenad.
Now, the legal process is ongoing in the police, and conditions at the scene are safe and conducive. Among the engines of the vehicle that returned to normal that afternoon, there was a sense of relief because the courage of the soldiers had prevented two lives from being lost in the hands of the masses.
