Car-Scale Service: Which One Is More Appropriate, Based On Time Or Travel Distance?

JAKARTA - Many car owners are still confused when the right time to serve periodically, whether based on travel distance or usage time. In fact, these two methods have the same goal, namely to keep the vehicle's performance prime and safe to use.

Auto2000 Marketing Division Head, Nur Imansyah Tara, explained that regular service is very important to keep the car condition optimal. With cars that have good performance, it can reduce the risk of problems in the future.

Regular service can maintain car performance regularly so that it is always prime in supporting mobility. Car conditions that are always healthy can reduce the possibility of problems such as strikes or accidents. Maintained performance also makes cars work more efficiently so that they are more fuel efficient, and no less important is the durability of car components to be more maintained," said Nur Imansyah in her official statement quoted on Wednesday, October 8.

Between Usage Time And Tempuh Distance

Many think that the condition of the streets in big cities like Jakarta, which is often jammed, makes methods based on time-based, more relevant. In theory, a distance of 10,000 kilometers can be achieved in less than six months.

However, in a bad condition, the car engine still works even though the distance does not increase significantly, it can even work harder because the cooling is not optimal. Protracted idle conditions can also cause fuel and air mixtures to be not ideal, resulting in imperfect burning.

As a result, a pile of carbon arises in the fuel chamber and engine components that lower performance and increase fuel consumption. "In addition to lowering engine power, imperfect combustion also has the potential to damage engine components because oil loses its ability to protect due to contamination from combustion residue," said Nur Imansyah.

Not only machines, but traffic jam conditions also make other components work harder than usual. The brake system, transmission, tires, cooling fluid, and batteries also affect even though the distance does not increase. If ignored, this can accelerate the decline in overall vehicle performance.

Seeing this condition, Auto2000 suggested that vehicle owners use time-based benchmarks to determine service intervals, especially for users in urban areas. Ideally, services are carried out every six months, even though the distance has not reached 10,000 kilometers.

However, if the car has traveled more than 10,000 kilometers before six months, the owner is advised to immediately do a periodic service booking. This is important to ensure all components of the car continue to work properly, including oil replacement, radiator cooling liquid, and brake oil.

"We recommend customers to routinely serve regularly every six months or 10,000 kilometers, depending on which one is achieved first," concluded Nur Imansyah Tara.
