USB Cable Threatened To Disappear From New Mobile Boxes In The Future

JAKARTA The data cable appears to be the next device missing from the latest mobile box. This is estimated after Sony launched its newest cellphone, namely Xperia 10 VII.

A user shares his story on sub-reddit total Tech Tips after buying the device. Launching from Gizmochina, the Xperia 10 VII mobile box looks empty when opened. Users only get their cellphones.

Sony does not include other support such as a data cable or charger head. This is quite surprising because many people have complained about the problem of removing the charger's head from the purchasing box, although most Chinese phones still include it.

This is a huge setback for consumers. There are many people who expect complete box contents like in the past, such as cell phones, a set of chargers with their heads, back protectors of their phones, and even headsets.

The trend of removing this accessory began with big brands like Apple. The company became the first to get rid of the adapter or head of the charger on the grounds of sustainability.

Apple even recently removed USB cables from AirPods 4 and AirPods Pro 3. This step can be followed by other large phone manufacturers by reducing electronic waste in the future.

However, this policy has the potential to be a problem for consumers and the environment. Without the cables included, customers can choose a cheaper third party alternative and often of low quality.

This can cause fast cable to break and actually produce more waste over a longer period of time. When data cable reduction actually occurs, consumers must be ready to spend additional costs.
