Seven Victims of the Shipwreck in the Seribu Islands Have Been Rescued, with One Still Missing
JAKARTA - The Head of the Jakarta Search and Rescue Office, Desiana Kartika Bahari, stated that seven of the eight victims missing from the accident that sank the Surya Bahari Rawasaban ship in the middle of Bokor Island, near Dapur Island, Untung Jawa Village, South Seribu Islands District, early Tuesday (October 7th) have been found.
"As of today, seven victims have been found, and one victim is still being searched for," Desiana said in Jakarta, Wednesday, October 8th.
She stated that the seven survivors are Wahyudin (38), the ship's captain; Imron (23); Juli; Kartani (30); Wawan (40); Kacung (35); and Mamat (35).
"All victims were found safe," Desiana said.
She explained that the incident, which occurred early Tuesday (October 7th) was caused by an accident that caused the ship to sink.
"We received information on Tuesday morning at around 10:00 a.m. Western Indonesian Time and immediately began searching for and providing assistance to the victims," Desiana said.
Previously, the Surya Bahari Rawasaban fishing vessel sank in the middle of Bokor Island near Dapur Island, Untung Jawa Village, South Seribu Islands District, early Tuesday (October 7th).
"Five victims have not been found. We are still searching," said Mohamad Yohan, Head of the Data and Information Center of the Jakarta Regional Disaster Management Agency, in Jakarta, Tuesday.
At the time, he stated that the ship's passengers were missing and were still being searched for by the joint SAR team as of yesterday afternoon, Tuesday (October 7).
