BYD Presents EMAX 9 DM-i 2026 In The Philippines, Already Registered In Indonesia
JAKARTA BYD continues to show its aggressiveness in various parts of the world through a series of launches of new products. In Indonesia alone, this brand from China already has a total of six models, and now its expansion step continues to the Philippines.
Quoting from the Top Gear PH page, Wednesday, October 8, the Philippines BYD Cars has just announced the launch of its newest model through social media. This time, BYD targeted the luxury MPV segment by introducing eMAX 9 DM-i 2026.
Known as BYD Xia in the Chinese market, eMAX 9 has been seen on the streets of the Philippines several times since last August. This car looks striking with a large front grip, wide bumper intake, and a slim LED headlights that reinforces the modern and premium impressions.
The MPV has also been registered and certified as a plug-in hybrid vehicle by the Philippine Department of Energy (DOE), making it one of the most anticipated models in its segment.
Based on the DOE list, the eMAX 9 will most likely use a fifth-generation Super DM-i engine, the same as the one used in the Tang DM-i SUV. The configuration consists of a 1.5 liter turbocharged engine powered by 150 PS and a 250 Nm torque, which functions as a generator to charge the eMAX 9 Blade battery.

The single electric motor produces 272 PS power and 315 Nm torque, with two battery options: 20.4 kWh for the Advanced variant and 36.6 kWh for the Premium variant. This option provides a longer range of electric driving at its highest version.
Configuratively, BYD eMAX 9 DM-i is likely to come with 7 standard seats using the seat captain in the middle row. However, the 4-SEAter version as offered by Lexus LM is also called not impossible.
Seeing BYD's price strategy that tends to be aggressive, it is possible that this model will be marketed at prices below the Toyota Alphard and even GAC M8. BYD has opened an order period for this luxury MPV, and its official launch is scheduled to take place this month or next November.
Opportunities To Attend In Indonesia
Interestingly, the premium MPV has also been registered with Indonesia through the Intellectual Property Database (PDKI) page of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights. The submission was carried out on November 22, 2024, and as of August 20, 2025, the application status for BYD M9 was recorded at the stage of the Publication Period.
